Road Trip 2017 – California, Here I Come!

Mechanical bull riding in my underwear, my friends and I making up our own words, my first tattoo, California Adventure nearly for free, lots of caffeine, a limousine ride around Vegas at 3am, rock collecting, getting caught in a flash flood, playing the ukulele and chasing birds at the beach, hours spent in the car singing to our favorite songs from high school, spending time with some of my favorite people. I could have stayed there forever…

Maybe I will.

In Logan, Utah, I had been feeling stuck. It was getting to the point that it was detrimental enough to my mental health that I knew it was time to make a change.

On a whim, I decided to uproot my life, get rid of nearly everything I own, pack the rest of my things into my little Yaris, and move to California…all in about three weeks and without having a job or housing lined up.

Taking into account my anxiety riddled, overly-cautions brain, this sudden decision is still a shock even to me. I’m a planner. So making a life change on this scale and in such a short of time has been one of the most nerve-wracking things I’ve ever done. But for whatever reason, I’ve had a really good feeling about it. Timing couldn’t have been more perfect, things that had kept me from moving in the past were no longer an issue. My hours had just been cut in half at work, I wasn’t seriously dating anyone, I wasn’t on a lease, and most importantly, I’d been eager to experience life outside the Utah bubble for years.

It has taken a LOT of forcing myself out of my comfort zone to make this happen. But that’s where the good stuff happens. I seriously cannot wait to see what this change is going to teach me and where I’ll end up!

Keep up with my adventures on my spur-of-the-moment move to California on Instagram @honestlylifoflauren, on my Facebook page, “Honestly Life of Lauren”, or here on my blog! I’ll be posting workout videos (especially of exercises you’ll be able to do on the road or at home), yummy ways to eat healthy on a budget, motivational quotes, and things I learn along the way!
